This blog is
part of my contribution to a Colombian campaign called #SoyCapaz (Something
like “I can do ...”) led by more than
120 Colombian companies who are encouraging our people to change in order to have the country we want, we deserve. They believe
that making a difference depends only on each one of us; they believe that our
people need to prepare and act for a new future, and the responsibility for
this is upon all of us as citizens of Colombia. So I CAN DO A BLOG ABOUT
PEACE, on the ongoing peace process of my home Country (#SoyCapaz de hacer un blog por la PAZ de Colombia).
I’ve always
wanted to have a blog, and I want this blog to be one of my contributions to my
Country. It’s a huge challenge for me to write about such a complicated topic that
has generated so many different positions in Colombia. But here I am!
For all of you
who don’t know what Colombia is, I can say that it’s an amazing beautiful
country in South America that has suffered of constant violent moments in it’s
history because of many illegal groups such as: guerrillas, drug traffickers,
paramilitary groups, etc., and currently we are in the middle of a peace
process of a war that has been happening for more than 50 years now, with the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – FARC –.

So why do we
have to change? Why does the business sector bother to get together and build a
campaign? I guess because after several generations of living on a nonstopping
war, we need to reconcile as a country. Of all the peacemaking efforts in hour
recent history, this peace process that is being held in la Habana, Cuba, has
all the possibilities of succeeding, so we all need to prepare for the change.
I hope to
capture the eyes and hearts of all of those who had to leave our Country
because of its violence; those born in other countries such as the U.S. because
your parents had to leave Colombia threatened by any of those groups mentioned
above; to all those who love Colombia because they have a Colombian friend or have
had the opportunity to visit us. And last but not least, for those who want peace.
